PHOTOGRAPHY - BEGINNERS

 

DAY: MONDAY

TIME: 10:00 -12:30

COURSE LENGTH: X9 WEEKS

This practical & stimulating course is designed for the beginner/improver & will take place in a relaxed & friendly environment.  The key camera controls will be covered so that students will be able to quickly & efficiently take pictures under a variety of situations.

Key areas including composition, exposure, lenses & accessories will be covered so that students will gain confidence when using their camera & increase their ability to create interesting & personal images.

Revision of work will be continual through out the course.  Photoshop will be covered as well as the production of a portfolio of images. This will be similar in content to the City & Guilds Award in Photography Level 1 & is structured to run over three terms.

PHOTOGRAPHY - INTERMEDIATE:

Street Life/Documentary

DAY: WEDNESDAY 

TIME: 10:00 - 12:30

COURSE LENGTH: X10 WEEKS

NUMBER OF STUDENTS: MAXIMUM X10

LOCATION: THE ART STABLES STUDIO 1

COST PER TERM: £210.00

 

This practical stimulating course is designed for the improver/intermediate photographer & will take place in a relaxed & friendly environment within the art stable studios. A number of the sessions will be held at various locations tbc.  This course will concentrate on capturing images of various events; social, news, live performance, sports, etc.  A documentary style/approach will be explored & students will be encouraged to create sets of images that illustrate the event & tell a story.

The key camera controls will be revised/explored in greater detail so as to improve skills & technique.

Key areas including composition, the use of lenses, relevant accessories, the use of light especially available/natural light & on camera flash will be explored so that students will gain confidence & increase their ability to create interesting & personal images under a variety of situations.

Revision of work & skills will be continual through out the course.  Photoshop will be covered as well as the production of a portfolio of images.  This will be similar in content to the City & Guilds Level 1 specialist unit Events Photography & is structured to run over three terms.

PHOTOGRAPHY - ADVANCED.

DAY: FRIDAY

TIME: 10:00 - 12:30

COURSE LENGTH: X10 WEEKS

NUMBER OF STUDENTS: MAXIMUM X10

LOCATION: THE ART STABLES

TUTOR: PATRICK GORMAN

COST PER TERM: £210.00

This practical course is designed for the experienced photographer & will take place in a relaxed & friendly environment, occasionally sessions will be held on location tbc.  The key camera controls will be revised/explored in greater detail so as to improve skills & technique. Students will ultimately be able to quickly & efficiently take pictures in a variety of situations, which include the studio environment at the stables or a studio set up on location as well as utilizing the available light & the environment to create interesting & personal images.

The group will be working collectively to cover a wide variety of topics facilitating the needs & requirements of individual photographers. These will be established at the start of the term & there will be scope to adapted & explore various themes.

Revision of work will be continual through out the course.  Photoshop will be covered as well as the production of a portfolio of images. These courses will be similar in content to the City & Guilds Level 1, 2 & 3 Photography courses and each will be structured to run over three terms.

Guitar Lessons

 

Learn the guitar with Patrick Naylor every Tuesday evening:

Improvers:             6.30 - 7.30 pm

Intermediate:         7.30 - 8.30 pm

Jazz/Advanced:     8.30 - 9.30 pm

 

IMPROVERS
For those who can play basic open chords and who want to progress to working at melody, finger picking, bar chords and other basic techniques to improve their guitar playing. Tues 6.30-7.30

 

INTERMEDIATE
For those confident with open/bar chords who feel ready to move to more advanced techniques including finger picking, solo playing and basic improvisation. Wed 7.30- 8.30pm

 

ADVANCED
For those with a good knowledge of the basics, the course will concentrate on learning to play jazz standards (old & new) while working on helping you to develop your chord playing and soloing. Reading music is not necessary but you need to have at least mastered bar chords and a few basic blues progressions. The class will also allow more advanced students to work on more challenging areas of jazz playing.
